It’s a pretty incredible year that Mad Mad: Fury Road is nominated for so many Oscars. As a car nut, you might be thinking that you’d like your own version Max’s V8 Interceptor. It would be difficult to get one just like Max’s, or even just a run-of-the-mill Ford Falcon if you don’t live in Australia, but there are some American ways to scratch that ich. Also you can have any colour you want, as long as its black.
You’ll have to wait until Johnny Law retires one, but what you get is a gutted Taurus SHO.
Dodge Charger R/T Pursuit
Like the Ford Interceptor, this is a police special, but it’s arguably more mean and menacing.
Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Shaker
The less options the better, except for the shaker hood, which is probably the closest any stock car will come to the breather on the Falcon.
1973 Chevrolet Chevelle
Everything about a ’73 Chevelle just screams get-away car. They’re odd-ball just odd ball enough that a cowl-induction hood and Monza front end would really give it that interceptor feel.
2003 Terminator Cobra
It’s fast, it’s mean, it screams.
1985 Ford Mustang 5.0
Probably the closest aesthetically to Max’s Interceptor.
2011 Ford Mustang GT
Fastback styling and V8 thunder help sell the road-warrior feel.
