The thing about a road trip is that the goal is not arrive; it’s about the journey. As such, you’ll need the perfect ride. These are the rides you’d want to drive across country.
Lets start simple…ish. There’s nothing wrong with traveling in style and comfort, and the the Escalade should have more than enough room for some travel bags and a friend or three.
Preferably in white, because Vanishing Point. Other than that, they’re comfy, roomy, powerful and the embodiment of American-cool.
The Mustang is basically the ultimate grand touring, especially when you consider the price. You’ve got a V8, a rear seat, a decent trunk for luggage and one of the most iconic front grills there is. What more could you want?
The least roomy of all the cars on the list, but who cares? What’s better than cruising a Corvette Stingray from coast to coast?
1955 Chevrolet Bel Air
Yes they’re hard to find, and a classic, and expensive for a good one. But, we’d be remise not to mention just how perfect one of these would be on Route 66.
Dodge Magnum R/T
In contrast, here’s a very affordable option. The Magnum was essentially a Dodge Charger wagon. You got a HEMI engine and all the space you could ever need.
